Out of Exile

Available now through major book sellers

But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.- Titus 2:1

How far can one walk blindly, guided only by their faith? What tribulations might shake the foundations of what was once unmovable? How easy it is to quiver and shake in the face of hell, but what if staring into the face of darkness opens the door to our faith? Out of Exile is the story of Jonah, a man who isn't losing his faith but instead finding it. Take a journey with him as he explores the hope of sound doctrine and fights off the temptations of sorrow and exasperation. Be encouraged to seek that which will save you and learn to fight while standing still.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.- James 4:10

There was a time when I knew him or at least the character he permitted me to see. In my many years with him, I always got the sense that there was something more behind his eyes. Something that he kept only for himself. The look in his eye impressed upon me that I was never privy to more than a small sliver of the man he hid. He had this way about him that made him difficult to forget, though he always seemed to try his best to be forgettable. He once said to me that no matter how small the crowd that stood around his casket, he prayed that those people were, with all their hearts, truly grateful for the little time they had known him.

I am grateful to have known him. I am grateful to have called him a friend. Here is the story of Jonah, the man who hid himself among the crowd.

Last Exit for Boiling Springs

Coming Soon...

A bead of sweat rolled down Jim’s temple in the oppressive heat. Whose idea had it been to go to a place called “Boiling Springs” for vacation? He couldn’t remember. Plain letters in red over a white background proclaimed the name of the park, “Carnival Perdition.” It was a rather ordinary-looking sign for an amusement park. The front of the park was also plain and white, with no distinguishing marks or color other than the black of the front entrance. The entire park was muted and hidden behind long stretches of plain white walls. Only the labored dissonant notes of mechanical theme park music weakly climbing over the white walls provided any hint of anything on the other side.

The plain simplicity of the park’s view from the parking lot whispered with ominous tones to the souls of all who would soon step into the dark opening and proceed through the mystery of an entrance confusingly labeled “exit.”
