But what are our lives
if not books to be written?
Each day a new page,
each word a small part
Some are characters in mine
and I, a character in theirs
How have I been written?
What of them do I write?
Not one word can ever be erased
Instead, new words written are made to replace
Oh, the story an author can tell
with words no other can spell
Punctuation at sentence end
Capital letters to start again
A sentence here
and a sentence there
begin and end with marks of quotation
Some goodbyes and lamentations
Some love and salutations
But what are our lives
if not books to be written?
Passion-filled novelette
or pulp-fiction to forget?
Oh, the words we learned to spell
in a story only we can tell
But what are our lives
if not books being written?
What words did we spell
in the story that only we can tell?
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.- Colossians 3:23-24
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.- 1 Peter 4:10
Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.- 1 Corinthians 7:17
“And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”- Joshua 24:15
